Building a Career in Journalism
Say the truth and the truth shall set you free. That is the core of journalism, the truth. It's not just about one side of the story, it's about the entire story. As an aspiring journalist, you must learn to find the truth. You need to know how to tell the entire story the way it is. And this is what this course is about.
About this course
In this course, I will walk you through the concept of the media and also how to participate and become a journalist in an ever-expanding media world.
This course introduces you to the fundamental aspects of mass media as well as other interrelated media. It also touches on several ways one can join the field without necessarily attending a conventional class.
A lot of young people have shown keen interest in joining an ever-growing media world, most of them having obtained a first degree in a different course. However, with the advent of social media where everyone can now become a journalist with a click of a button, some people want to grow professionally in the field. An existing and fast-evolving industry, the media has a lot of opportunities for young people to be self-reliant and sustainable as long as they are passionate about current events and interested in storytelling.
However, pursuing a career in journalism is not a big deal. It is important to note that communication is something we are all involved with, in our day-to-day lives, from writing short poems and social media comments, setting the news agenda, voicing your opinion, interviewing people, and raising awareness of stories that you think are inspiring. These are ways we get involved in journalism daily.
