We will start by examining the factors that serve as drivers to the insecurity in Nigeria, with a particular focus on external factors from Nigeria's immediate neighbours and the Sahel region. These factors are numerous, but the course will concentrate on Nigeria's foreign policy, porous borders, small arms proliferation and smuggling, and weak institutions.

The course will also examine how porous borders have facilitated the movement of terrorists, arms, and other illicit items into Nigeria. Is a  senior officer with extensive education and training in the Nigerian Defence Academy.
